Early life and education

Victoria was born on 1 January 2005, the younger twin daughter of Crown Prince Nicolas and his wife, Marina. She was delivered naturally at 12:04 a.m. at the Royal Karolina Hospital in Merlitz, less than three hours after her sister, Princess Josephine. The Catholic Archbishop of Merlitz, Eduardo de Volkonsky, baptized her in the private chapel of San León Palace on 21 January 2005. She was named Victoria Amélie Kira Eugenia, after Victoria Amélie the wife of Alexander III, her great-grandmother Amélie of Neviers, her paternal great-grandmother Countess Kira of Libourne-Cosime, and Princess Eugenia of Ardenne.

Known within the royal family as "Rory", a nickname first coined by Josephine, she was described as bright, imaginative, and remarkably poised from an early age. Like her twin, she learned Ardenian Spanish, English, French, and Brazilian Portuguese, and showed a particular aptitude for analytical reasoning and spatial problem-solving.

From childhood, Victoria displayed a strong passion for dance, mathematics, and chess, quickly gaining national attention as one of Ardenne's youngest competitive chess players. She later became known for her ability to combine logic and art through her choreography and stage performance, often credited with bringing a "mathematical elegance" to contemporary dance.

Victoria was also drawn to humanitarian work, inspired by her parents' charitable initiatives and her sister's advocacy. She has since become involved in various social and educational causes, particularly focused on women's education, digital literacy, and youth welfare.

Like her twin, Victoria is Catholic and received her first communion at the San León Cathedral in October 2014.

Victoria has naturally wavy, blonde hair, though she has occasionally dyed it in solidarity with her sister. The princess is of Euskanordic (Nordebask) descent, from the Castamari branch of the House of La Palma, a lineage tracing back to the Viking settlers who intermarried with Basque nobility in the early medieval period.

She was raised under the care of her nanny and governess, Esmée Ferreira, alongside Josephine, with whom she shares an especially close bond. She currently resides at the Duchess's Apartments in the Palais de Marbéliard, but frequently stays at Miraval Cottage within San León Palace. During the summer months, she joins her sister at Lilou Summer Palace in Longlière, a 15th-century residence once built for Isabela Noriko.

Education

Victoria attended the Real Guardería Infantil de Santa Ysabel alongside her twin sister Alicia until 2007. She then attended the Royal Penserosa Academy from 2007 until her early graduation in 2020. Later that year, she enrolled at the Parsons School of Design in New York City, where she pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design with a focus on sustainable and ethical production. She graduated in 2024.

Following her studies in New York, Victoria began postgraduate research at Oxford University, undertaking a DPhil in Computer Science, with academic interests combining computational design, sustainable materials, and digital innovation in fashion manufacturing.

In 2024, Victoria founded her own fashion label, La Victorina, a sustainability-focused brand emphasizing ethical labor practices, affordable pricing, and environmentally conscious materials. The brand operates without the use of sweatshops and allocates its profits to the La Fundación Princesa Victoria para la Moda, a charitable fund established the same year to support fashion accessibility, education, and textile sustainability initiatives. As of 2025, La Victorina has an estimated brand valuation of $500 million.

Military education

In keeping with Ardenne's royal tradition, members of the House of La Palma León are expected to undergo military training as part of their preparation for public life and state duties. Princess Victoria began her naval training in August 2024 at the Real Colegio Naval de Grand Madeleine, entering as alférez de navío (naval officer cadet). Within a year, she received early promotion to capitán de corbeta (Corvette Captain) in June 2025, an appointment formally endorsed by the Consejo Supremo de Marina Real.

Duchess of Marbéliard

She was briefly titled as Princess Victoria of Ardenne before being granted the title of Duchess of Marbéliard on 21 January 2005, on the day of her christening.
